The main task facing the architects of the WALL bureau was to increase the area of the MDM, while it was necessary to preserve the existing appearance of the palace. Externally, the building will change slightly, the main elements of modernism - concrete and glass, will remain the same. The windows will be lowered, due to which the facade will become more transparent and light, and a through passage from Komsomolsky Prospekt to the Trubetskoy Estate park will be opened. The building will be cleared of unnecessary advertising, the area in front of the Youth Palace will be freed from cars, and art installations will be placed on it.

From the park side, behind MDM, a multi-level cultural center with a facade will be built made of frosted glass. The material of the facade was not chosen by chance, it is glass that will visually increase the space of the park, while the gallery will be as airy as possible. The new cultural center will house workshops, a food market and exhibition space. The height of the vertical museum will not exceed the main building of the palace, due to which the view of MDM from Komsomolsky Prospekt will preserve its appearance as much as possible.

The gallery will be connected with the youth palace by a warm overhead passage on the third floor level. The space between the main building and the vertical museum will acquire the function of a city square, where exhibitions and performances are also expected to be held. During the reconstruction, the area of MDM will be increased by 10,000 sq. M. m.

Internal spaces will be optimized in the building, it will acquire a clear structure: the perimeter of MDM will be given over to commercial areas, and the entire central part will perform a cultural function. A universal multimedia space will appear over the existing small and large concert halls. The architects of the WALL bureau intend to give new life to the foyer of the palace - to clean it as much as possible and saturate it with new scenarios, for example, to turn it into a skating rink. Also, during the reconstruction, the roof will be involved - it will become new city viewpoint.

After the reconstruction, the Moscow Palace of Youth should become part of the walking route that starts in Gorky Park and goes across the pedestrian Andreevsky Bridge.
